Prognosis
Acute Pancreattis ; spontaneously in 80-90% of cases, and the mortality is 3-5%. Death occurs die to complications of acute attacks, cardiovascular complications of diabetes, associated cirrhosis, drug dependence of sucide.
General Measures
Ensuring fat restriction in diet.Alcohol is forbidden.
Follow Up
Persistent rise in amylase weeks after subsidence of acute attack calls for imaging studies to look for pseudocytes.
Inadequate Response
Rule out complications like pseudocysts, abscess, obstruction, portal/splenic vein thrombosis.
Prevention
Abstinence from alcohol .Correct underlying like pseudocyst. hyperlipidaemia. Hyperparathyroidism etc..
