An infectious condition of the skin caused by the mite Sarcoptes Scabei or Hominis leading to burrows in the webs of fingers, wrists, hands, feet, penis, scrotum, buttocks and waist line. Head and neck palms and soles are exempt except in infants diagnosis by examining mite extracted from end of burrow with help of lens.
Treatment

Permithrin (5% cream), or Lidane (lotion cream or shampoo) or Crotomiton cream applied from head to soles of feet and left for 8-12 hours and then thoroughly washed off. Second application after 48 hours. OR Ivermectin, a broad spectrum antiparastitic, (200 ugm/kgm) orally stat on empty stomach. Secondary pyoderma may ned topical and/or oral antibiotics.
