>8 yr: 7-13 mg/kg daily divided every 6-12 hr. |

Administration |
Should be taken on an empty stomach (i.e. At least one hour before food or four hours after food). (Take w/ a full glass of water on an empty stomach at least 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals.) |

Children <12 yr; SLE; renal or hepatic disease. |

Potentially Life-threatening
Adverse Drug Reactions |
Photosensitivity. Reversible nephrogenic diabetes insipidus. Permanent staining of teeth; nausea; rash; GI upsets; dysphagia; enterocolitis; anogenital inflammation (moniliasis). Hypersensitivity; haemolytic anaemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia and eosinophilia; raised blood urea and liver enzymes. |

Adverse Drug Reactions |
Anaphylaxis (rare). |

Interactions |
Antacids, milk, calcium, magnesium and iron preparations reduce absorption. Diuresis induced by amiloride and metolazone may be enhanced. May reduce efficacy of oral contraceptives when used concurrently. |
