Indication & Dosage
 
 
Oral
ONCHOCERCIASIS
Adult: 3-12 mg (based on 150 mcg/kg) as a single dose every 6-12 mth.
 
Oral
ONCHOCERCIASIS
Child: >5 yrs and >15kg: Same as adult dose.
 
Oral
STRONGYLOIDIASIS
Adult: 200 mcg/kg as a single dose or daily on 2 consecutive days. For HIV patients: May need to repeat dose every 2-4 wk.
   
Administration Should be taken on an empty stomach (i.e. At least one hour before food or four hours after food). (Take on an empty stomach.)
   
Precautions Concurrent Loa loa infection, impaired blood-brain barrier function due to infection.
   
Adverse Drug Reactions Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, pruritus, urticaria, rash, arthralgia, fever, myalgia, asthenia, postural hypotension, tachycardia, oedema, lymphadenopathy, sore throat, cough, headache, somnolence, transient eosinophilia, raised liver enzyme values.
   
Interactions Bioavailability may be increased by alcohol, levamisole.
