Indication & Dosage
 
 
Intravenous
TREATMENT OF ACUTE AND DELAYED NAUSEA AND VOMITING IN PATIENTS RECEIVING EMETOGENIC CHEMOTHERAPY
Adult: As a single dose: 250 mcg. To be given over 30 seconds and 30 min before chemotherapy. Do not repeat within 7 days.
   
Precautions Caution when used in patients with intestinal obstruction or ileus. Rapid inj may lead to temporary visual changes such as blurred vision. Caution when used in patients who have or may develop prolonged QT intervals. Safety and efficacy not established in children <18 yr. Counsel patients that skilled tasks such as driving may be impaired.
   
Adverse Drug Reactions Headache; flushing; fatigue, dizziness, drowsiness; hiccups; chest pain, tachycardia and bradycardia; diarrhoea, constipation, flatulence; dry mouth; urinary retention; dyspepsia, abdominal pain; changes in blood pressure; asthenia; anxiety, euphoria, parathesa, peripheral neuropathy; anorexia; motion sickness; influenza like symptoms; glycosuria, hyperglycaemia; electrolyte disturbance; arthralgia, eye irritation; amblyopia; tinnitus; rash, pruritis.
   
Interactions May have additive effect on prolonging QT with drugs such as moxifloxacin, erythromycin, antipsychotics and TCAs.
